CZECH REPUBLIC - Starỳ Poddvorov

The village Starỳ Poddvorov has 954 inhabitants. It has its own council that is established in a recently modernised building. The whole village has gas, water and a sewerage system. The water treatment plant has been linked to the sewerage system. This installation has been renewed recently with European subsidy. Because the municipality still invests in the construction of flats, there is a school for children in the age of six up to eleven years (first up to and including fifth class). The population is very interested in sports. There are three football teams. Moreover, there is a local association for wine producers and a club of pet owners.

Traditions and folklore are still honoured. Young children are learning the popular songs with the dance steps.

The winegrowing is very popular in Starỳ Poddvorov. One of two families has their own vintage, generally as an additional income. They produce wine for family and friends. A part of the grapes is sold to large wine producers. This large wine production influences the nature of the landscape. Traditions, folklore and winegrowing determine the character of the village.
