Location and surroundings

Our people are in Extremadura in Badajoz province, located north of the Shire of Tentudía to 606 meters of altitude, relief plain in the north and southeast of the Sierra Home, 793 meters of altitude.
The landscape is defined by fields of vines, olives, cereals and grasses.
The vegetation is composed of remnants of Mediterranean woodland, represented by the oak and cork oak with other species such as rockrose, gorse, lavender, etc..

Access

You can access through the exit 700 of the A-66 (Autovía de la Plata) to the Road Home (EX-202).
We can also access via the road N-432 Badajoz-Granada, to the junction with the district Welcome to E-202.

History


Data are available from the existence prior to the year 1351. We found the remains of Roman settlements in different parts of the municipality while the village comes to the process of recon quest and repopulation by the Order of Santiago, which is integrated with the range of mandates and connected directly with the Tentudía Monastery, one of whose Vicars, John Riera, was naturally welcome.
The adjective is the natural "shots" and the colloquial in the region, "soap operas". Our town is also known for being the birthplace of the dynasty of the bullfighter Manuel Mejías Rapela, its founder.

Traditional festivities

- Carnival.
- Pilgrimage of San Isidro (May 15), is celebrated for several days in the field (Pradera de San Isidro). Prior is the Way, when he moved in procession to the Holy prairie.
- Easter, attractions steps away from the traditional processions, especially on Good Friday procession of the Holy Burial at which Benedict sing, Gregorian chants, which come from ordinary people, with tones a flamencado.
- Home Fair, held the first weekend of August.
- Festivities in honour of Our Lady the Virgin de los Milagros on September 8.

Cuisine:

The typical dishes of the locality are related to the Iberian pig and lamb.
In baking, in addition to the typical specialties of the region: chanfaina caldereta, crumbs, Empanadilla, spirals of glory, flaky almond and traditional rosquetes and buns at Easter.
