The Web Team is made up by Niall Gregory (Cashel, Ireland) and Matteo Fiorese (Bucine, Italy).
Niall Gregory: “I am originally from Dublin and living in Cashel since 1999. I am a self-employed professional archaeologist and I work mostly in Ireland with both public and private sector clients. I started my career as an underwater archaeologist. I also have a second job as a professional safety consultant in which I do safety management of festivals and public events. My PhD specialisation is ancient boats, in which I often work throughout Ireland and in Europe on this work.
I first participated in the Charter at the Lefkara Meeting (Cyprus) in 2008, when I was President of Cashel Chamber of Commerce. I was immediately so impressed with my first Charter experience and many new friends I made across Europe that I feel privileged to remain as a participant. My involvement in the Charter has included, representing Cashel as its Communications Officer until 2014 and since then as its Web Master.
At home, I have three cats. My son, Darragh, who is 27 and my best achievement, lives in Berlin and will soon move to London. In 2017 Karen and I will marry which will also be my best achievement!
Also, I like sailing, hill walking and skiing!”
Matteo Fiorese: “I’ve been living in Bucine municipality for 31 years – and counting – and attended schools there, before transferring to Pisa where I earned a B.A. in Literature in 2007 – with a specialisation in Translation and Interpreting, and a M.A. in Political Sciences in 2014. I started working as a professional translator right after earning my B.A., and currently I am working on Bucine Municipality’s website. Moreover, in 2015 I’ve begun working at Bucine’s Tourist Information Office.
My experience within the Charter started in February 2013, when I attended the Youth Meeting in Ockelbo (Sweden) as part of the Italian youngsters’ delegation, and ever since I’ve attended every meeting I could take part in, namely Portugal in 2013, Belgium in 2014, Lithuania in 2015, Slovakia and United Kingdom in 2016. It was at the meeting in Slovakia that I was nominated Web Co-ordinator of the Charter of European Rural Communities Website, a task which I share with Niall Gregory from Cashel, Ireland.
As for my hobbies, I like reading, model-making and playing chess (I’m an enthusiast but not at all good player).”
